Our lovely kittens, Leetamy Charm Bracelet and her brother Leetamy Prince Charming had their first show today. It was a very big show for two littlies and was also quite a chilly day. They had to sit quietly in their show cage for most of the day, they got to cuddle up with their teddy bear heat pack and most importantly got to charm the socks off the general public.
Mr Prince Charming met a potential forever family today and had a huge cuddle, snuggled into his maybe-Mums jacket. Forever the Heat Seeking Missile, he was quite relunctant to head back.
The first two rings of the show were quiet for my kids, consistently beaten by their cousins. The two devon litters today had half-brothers as fathers so it was very interesting to see how close in type their were.
The final ring for the day was by the ACFA American Judge, Mr Tim Murphy. If you ever get the chance to talk to him, he is a lovely man. As the Show Manager, I picked him up from the airport. I was two hours late, thanks to a misread document but the ever charming Tim forgave me and came out to a friends place for dinner that night where we plied him with lovely wine and barbequed ribs. He was a gentleman the whole time, a really nice person to talk to and very gracious. I really need to note at this point that at no time did I mention what breed I had or even if I had anything entered in the show.
My duties as Show Manager kept me away from the rings for that day and I only knew how my cats did by the judges slips that were handed in. After the last ring was decided, my daughter came up to me and kept hounding at me. I eventually swung around with a WHAT!!!! She then handed me my first ever Best In Show ribbon for my little Charm Bracelet. Mr Murphy then went on to award her Supreme Shorthair Exhibit and Supreme All Breeds Exhibit In Show. My first ever!!!
Tim was extremely surprised when I handed him my ribbon and asked him to sign it. He said my little girl was devine, just gorgeous and he wanted to take her home. I am over the moon.
My aim is to always breed better than the previous generation and I really feel I have done this with this little lass. Its the start of a bright future for her with plans to repeat the mating...just in case!
Tomorrow I will take a photograph of her with her enormous sash and will post a pic of her Mum at the same age.
I know its a long brag but such a worthy one for me.
