I recently had an email from a woman who bought a kitten from me last Christmas.  She told me the little guy stopped eating and was not looking good.  She took him to a very good vet I recommended in Brisbane who promptly did a 3hr life saving operation and found the kitten had a stomach full of Hair ties that he had stolen from their little girls bedroom. Thanks to quick diagnosis this little devon is good as new.  Another friend of mine bought a Devon at a petshop.  This wonderful, character of a Devon also got sick was taken to the Animal Hospital on the Sunshine Coast and was found to have over 1 mtr of string in his stomach. He went through a tough, $1000.00 operation and come through well.  However, this naughty boy ended up back in Hospital for another $1000.00 operation to reveil a whole lot of Christmas ribbon stolen of the christmas presents again he lives to tell the tale.
I wonder how many Devons do this, also how many die of this with wrong diagnosis.  I must say it is a Warning to all Devon Owners  and I do warn all kitten buyers to watch what their kittens are up to especially what they are eating.  Also, watch plant matter one of my cats eat a Canna Lilly and was very ill.

Oh no! Those poor kitties! I've witnessed a lot of foreign body surgeries at the clinic I work at but never with a Devon (they are rare around here!)

But just to add, my DSH Lazarus got into my birthday flowers (which I had in a room no cats have access to, but he snuck in!) and ate a calla lily. I had to bring him to work, and he was on 24 hour IV fluids. Thankfully, he is a previous street cat and has a stomach of steel! No vomiting/ diarrhea! But now I've warned everyone if they buy me flowers to make sure they're cat-friendly! (I even printed out a list of non-toxic plants for my fiance, LOL!)
Yes, a Devon boy of mine ate a calla lilly from an arrangement. He was very ill luckily the vet gave him a kind of poison anti-dote and he came good quite quickly. I am sure all animals get up to this.
