I know we have talked about nick names but I wonder do any of you have 'Songs' for you cats. Any Cat or kitten that I have here for an extended amount of time ends up with their own song. My sister says to me 'Oh that is a worry that little kitten has it's own song now - lol. With the song is the dance and I will hold the Cat or kitten and dance with it singing it's personnel song. Each song comes from the personality of the cat or kitten and can be a re-written cover from a famous song. Some have had re-written Michael Jackson songs but some are original. My Spidergirl has the funkiest song which absolutely suits her but I often say - gee my necks is out, must be that spidergirl song as it is very jerky! LOL. Recently I picked up one of my cats from travelling up here from down South to re-home him in Qld. I hadn't seen him for 2 years and as we were driving up the highway together I looked at him and said - 'Do you remember your song 'Mr Tips' and I sang it to him again - a re-write of Michael Jacksons 'Beat It'. Mr Tips looked at me and started to talk it was so amazing as I think he was very disorientated from a very long overland bus trip. I am sure he remembered though.
One of my kittens who stayed with me for at least one year was Henny Penny and she was a lovely blue torti girl with pretty orange colours. Her song was the 'Coco nutty Doo Dah' - it so suited her. She was like toasted coconut and such a Doo Dah - lol

That is so cute Karolyn. I do not have songs for my cats but I love the idea.
It really sounds like Mr Tips remembered his song.... I don't think cats forget people, or things like that.

Yes, fantastic. I love 'What's new Pussycat?' and I do think they have a definite choice for their song. I think cats love music and they also love to be held and danced with. I visit a beautiful woman who happens to be an artist and she has rescued 4 very lucky cats. They live on an absolutely gorgeous property on the Sunshine Coast Qld and she was the first to tell me that she has a song for each cat and they do alot of dancing! I was so impressed as I have done this song business for many years with my Devons. I always have a radio on where my stud cat has his run and I know for a fact he loves different music types and he also likes the ABC Sunday show 'Macca in the morning talk back show from all over Australia'.

Hi Babs
Oh how wondeful! I think cats love the Big Bands. I know a breeder who has a radio tuned to the Big Band Channel in her cattery. My first Stud came from her and I knew for a fact this Boy just loved Big Band Swing. He would just come alive and I could see and feel the joy in him when I played him one of those songs. Yes, I can crtainly get that picture

I am not sure where I started with this 'Songs for Cats' business but I did do alot of work for the Musical 'Cats' in Australia and UK. I was mainly involved in the costume Dept and special effects. I do think there was alot of intuition into the nature of Cats in this show and it was one I had alot of affinity with. Maybe it just got me going and I continued the music. I think it is not by accident that a musical was entitled 'Cats' and what a success it was!!!!
