Hi i was just wondering if it's just my boys being crazy or does anyone else's devons go to the hottest room in the house when the airconditioning is on?

What's worse is that I usually have at least 2 devons sitting on me when I am trying to watch TV & in this heat it's not good for me but they don't seem to mind.

Devons are heat freaks!!!!! I recently took a litter of devons to the vet for vac and check in my brothers car which has an over the top security system. The vet nurse and I took the kitties back out to the car in the street which was in the sun put them in in their crates. I put my bag on the seat (passenger) shut the door and to my horror the car locked up with the key and the kittens inside on a hot day.  I was beside myself with panic. We covered the car with blankets and waited for RACQ emergency which took only 3mins to get there to open the car for me. You guessed it six little devon kittens with not a care in the world and probably enjoying the heat. I did say to the RACQ rescue man 'Oh No look at them they were persians before, they've gone bald (some were sheer) LOL. Thank God they were Devons - Devons are Heat Freaks.

My two love the heat, when they flew up to Darwin waiting for us to arrive the cattery felt sorry for them and put them in the aircon room.....for less than an hour, they were NOT happy..........Mia loves to sweat :-)

They make me laugh..it can be 38 degrees outside & they fight over the bit of sun that comes in the laundry late in the arvo. When i go and check on them they are sooo hot but love laying in the sun. They hate the ceiling fans too.

wish we were all there - we are at about minus 3 to 5 most of this week with some slight ice patches maybe local fog and forcast for some winter snow thru february - the splashpool out at the backs frozen into a skating rink that the two runner ducks would adore - and thanks to the collection of tank tops the devons are all keeping so so cosy and sitting inside the kitchen in cosy cat baskets and clinging onto the radiator wrap beds - when will it be the spring we want some warmth and sunshine in the UK asap so please devons in the antipodes post us some x

Oh, it sounds so cold there Babs... I dont know if I would prefer it that cold, or 36 degrees!

We also had the air conditioner on all day, downstairs here today.. and where did the cats spend their time?

Upstairs in the heat as well!

Somewhere in between the 2 sounds good Babs.

That is lovely Janis she will be most impressed but I bet her little spirit is still there in the kids room watching over you all

Oh that explains why Toppi used to sit on the kids bed during the day. They get all the heat & she was always in the kids room. I am so glad i moved her burial spot then.

My daughter buried her under 2 trees & I said she wont like it there she loved the sun in the kids room & so she is now buried outside the kids bedroom window with a beautiful miniture rose bush above her.

Sun on her all day there. She would have loved it.

Actually todays is really muggy about 90% humidity after the rain and close to 30 degrees and I couldnt find Bridget. Silly me of course she is sitting on the the hot water cylinder in my sisters bedroom. Sitting there just soaking up abit more heat!!

Karolyn your story about  the kittens being locked in the car made me laugh..i would have paniced as well..so glad to hear they were ok though..Jasper will bury himself in winter under the doona between me & my partner..when you feel him he is so hot & feels like he is going to self combust..lol

I dont think I have ever felt panic like it.  I was beside myself and must have looked white as a ghost. Luckily I had a vets nurse and a vet near me to do the phone calls to RACQ. I am usually very level headed but this one was too much for me.

I had six beautiful innocent little babies in a very hot car. I was ready to get a crow bar and smash the window. I can tell you 3minutes was like eternity. To see those little guys come out like nothing ad happen was amazing. Actually they were more annoyed that the vet took them back into the vet surgery and God Forbid 'Air-conditioning' to check them for stress. :-)

Actually My stud boy or retired boy now has a lovely 'Sun-tower' as I call it which is very tall and catches alot of afternoon sun. He has a hammock high up in there with towels and a cotton blanket. Even in 35 degree heat or more with humidity set to melt the average being. He goes up there cacoons himself like a Mummy and sleeps for hours. Sometimes I have to go out there and check he's still alive! The heat eminating of him is scarey you could fry an egg on his head but no he's good.  Just been seriously depressed with all the rain lately has to cacoon on the bed inside instead.
